Port
of Sept-Îles
The Port of Sept-Îles extends along a deep 45 km2 bay cutting into the north shore of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. An archipelago of 7 islands form a scenic natural barrier at the mouth of this large body of water, which affords safe anchorage for ships 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The Port of Sept-Îles’s state-of-the-art facilities can accommodate the world’s largest bulk carriers and it has an annual cargo handling capacity of 100 MT, making it the largest mineral port in North America.

Sept-Îles
Port
Authority
Formerly managed by the Canadian government, the Port of Sept-Îles became an autonomous organization in 1999. Since then we have been a local organization managed and run by the people of Sept-Îles. Our development vision is based solely on the needs and realities of our community.

Terminals
portuaires
There are 15 docks on the bay of Sept Îles, including the Vieux-Quai, the marina, the fishing harbour, the Arcand Dock, and the 2 industrial docks owned by the Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC). The Port of Sept-Îles owns and operates 9 of the docks, arranged in 5 terminals: Relance, Multi-user, Monseigneur-Blanche, Pointe-aux-Basques and Pointe-Noire.
The opening of the Cruise Ship Dock on October 4, 2010, meant the port could accommodate large steamers like the historic Queen Mary 2, marking a major tourism development milestone for the city of Sept-Îles and the community of Uashat mak Mani-utenam.
